- Location:Julia de Burgos Latino Cultural Center 1680 Lexington Ave (corner 106th st.) NYC, 10029.
- Date:Saturday, May 2, 2015, 6pm
- Info:Abya Yala Arte y Cultura preparing for the it's presentation “El Carnaval y Nuestros Recuerdos” (The Carnaval and Our Memories), a “fiesta” that looks to represent the essence of the distinct aspects of the Andean Carnaval. This event began by asking ourselves the question “What do you remember when someone mentions Carnaval”? There were so many answers such as the yunza, sikuris, singing in verse, and the vaca loca to mention a few. Due to the diversity of answers we decided to select a variety and present/celebrate these customs together! We would like to clarify that this will not be an artistic show but rather an invitation to all our friends to come and sing, play and share this celebrative event; not on a stage, but together. On this day you can bring a mask, wear a traditional dress from your town, sing, or better yet, you can prepare a song, dance, or make your own masks with your family and bring them to the event! Tell your children and friends how you used to have fun during a Carnaval. Hope to see you so we can share these moments together!
